The Agency for Adult
and Non-Formal Education in the Cross River State has been advised to take steps towards the actualisation of the millennium goals on education for all by the year 2015.
The Head of Service, Mrs. Mary Theresa Ikwen, gave the advice when she held an interactive session with the management of the agency in Calabar, recently.
She re-stated her commitment to the on-going interactive session with the various government establishments as it afforded her the opportunity to acquaint herself with the development on ground, instead of waiting to be fed with reports which in most cases were not authentic.
The head of service reminded the agency of the state government’s vision of becoming a leading Nigerian state with prosperous, healthy and well educated citizens living in harmony with people and nature and pursuing legitimate interests in freedom moderated by good governance.
Describing literacy as the greatest asset needed by man, the head of service expressed regret that in spite of the early contact with the missionaries that brought education to the west coast of Africa, lots of people did not have the opportunity to go to school at infancy.
She stated further that, there was still hope for these classes of persons as government, was committed to the education of all, and charged the agency to re-dedicate  itself to the full operation of all centers in the state as most of these centers were shadow of themselves.
