the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) ,? has expressed reservations over the? failure of the state and federal governments to reconstruct the collapsed Imiringi bridge in Ogbia Local Government of the state, after more than two years of the incident.
It would be recalled that the damaged bridge close to Yenagoa ,the state capital collapsed during the 2012 flood disaster that plagued the state.
The NUJ also berated the poor sanitary situation around the state capital where refuse litter major roads and called on the state government to sack? the Chairman of the Sanitation Authority,Abel Ebifemowei on non performance.
In a communique signed by its State Chairman and Secretary, Tarinyo Akono and Samson Opokuma, shortly after the state congress meeting in Yenagoa, the council however lauded the state government’s infrastructural and security policies ,but noted that the damaged Imiringi bridge and filthy streets were causing much pains and embarrassment to residents of the state.
Part of the communique reads; “Failure of the State,Federal,Local and multinational oil companies to intervene and reconstruct the collapsed bridge is causing economic hardship on the people of the state.”
