The Edo Commis
sioner for Higher Education, Mr Walshiton Osifo, has urged corporate organisations to assist the government to mould students to the ideals of the society.
Osifo spoke during the 2014 National Safety Competition for Senior Secondary Schools in Benin on Saturday.
The competition, which is taking place across the country, is being sponsored by Shell Petroleum Development Company in conjunction with Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Represented by Mr Obayuwana Osahon, a director in the ministry, the commissioner said the call became necessary as government alone could not do it.
Osifo said that competitions, such as the national safety competition, would help to further expose students and test them along with students from other schools.
The Edo Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Familoni Oluwasusi, said the aim of the competition was to inculcate in the students the culture of road safety at early stage.
Oluwasusi said that the ideals would help to reduce road accidents in the country in the long run.
Our correspondent reports that 14 schools qualified for the state edition.
The result of the competition will be announced on Novrmber 13 in Abuja.
