Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. James Aniyom, has called for mutual understanding and synergy between all the heads of agencies in the Ministry, to enhance even transformation.
Mr. Aniyom made the call during an enlarged Ministerial Management Meeting held in the ministry’s conference room in Calabar the state capital.
The commissioner frowned at the issue of each Head of Agency acting alone without reaching out to others, thus creating a big gap in the course of running the ministry as a whole.
He added that, as a ministry, it behooves  all Heads of Agencies to collaborate with one another for the ultimate goal of the ministry and the people of the State.
In a related development, Commissioner Aniyom has directed the for mation of at least ten viable cooperatives in all the eighteen local government areas of the State.           According to him, the purpose is to coordinate and monitor all projects within and those coming into the State for such cooperatives to be considered.
He said “the State needs real farmers and not imaginary ones who benefit from farm produce and collect loans, yet have no farm to show.
Aniyom added that, such cooperatives should involve rice, cassava, fishery, vegetables, livestock, Aquaculture, amongst others.
The commissioner directed the publication of all viable cooperatives henceforth including their geographical statistics, to enable other cooperatives know and reach out to one another.
According to him, the State government is keen in knowing the statistics of how many farmers are producing rice, livestock and other farm produce in the State.
He promised to reach out to all real farmers and monitor their farms for the ultimate good of the state.
