The Cross River State House of Assembly has unveiled plans to
digitalize its proceedings.
This was disclosed by the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Eteng Jonas
Williams, while delivering a speech during plenary to mark the end of
the first legislative year of the fourth Assembly.
The speaker disclosed that the essence of the initiative is to bring
members closer to the people and also provide accurate information on
proceedings of the house.
He said beginning from the second legislative year, all proceedings
will be uploaded to crsassembly.com.ng in order to bring members
closer to the people.
Giving an update on the achievements of the house, the speaker said
the house passed 7 bills, considered 17 reports, passed 22
resolutions, among others.
While commending the House for its pragmatic stand on the issue, he
noted that the Cross River State Assembly Service Commission Law 2020
after its first attempt in 1999, and disclosed that the State
Governor had exhibited the strongest statement of his commitment to
the legislature by assenting it into law.
Also speaking, the deputy speaker of the State Assembly, Joseph Bassey
deplored the rising communal crisis in the state and assured that the
9th Assembly is taking holistic measured to quell the crisis.
He said as the country gears up for the democracy day celebrations,
insecurity in the country is rising and called on the president to
rise to the occasion so as to nip the scourge in the bud.
