The Cross River State
Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr. Ralph Uche, has lauded the resourcefulness of a batch “A” National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member for donating flex signage board to the state government at the New Secretariat gate.
Mr Uche, who was represented by the Director of Administration in the Ministry, Ms Scholastica Bankong urged other corps members in the ministry and elsewhere to emulate Miss Morenike Ifedayo’s commitment and good works during her service year.
She recalled that another corps member had some months ago donated a directory to the Ministry of Lands and Housing as a guide to visitors; maintaining that these are persons who see their service period as a time of sacrifice as well as a period to render selfless service to the nation at their places of primary assignment.
The State NYSC Co-ordinator, Engr. Nkereke Ibanga while commissioning the 10 feet by 20 feet New Secretariat Directional Signage flex board, commended Miss Morenike Ifedayo for embarking on such useful, impacting and meaningful project.
The Co-ordinator, Community Development Service (CDS) groups of the State NYSC, Mr. Chuka Osuagwu, who stood in for Engr. Ibanga advised other corps members to imbibe the idea of establishing at least one project for the communities they serve during their service year.
In a chat with our correspondent, Miss Morenike Ifedayo, said her flex board directional signage of the State New Secretariat makes it possible for residents and visitors to locate at a glance the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) they need to transact business with, without any hassle.
Miss Ifedayo noted that she was moved to embark on the project because of the embarrassment she faced in locating her place of primary assignment “as a first timer to Cross River State’’ and the New Secretariat, adding that this was her humble contribution to assist others to be properly guided to where they would go and do business.
She expressed appreciation to the state government, ministry of lands and housing and other sponsors of the project for making it come to fruition, as well as making her stay and service year worthwhile.
