A non denominational Christian Organisation, Great Commission Outreach, has charged the people of Ekpeye in both Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas to unite and free their communities from kidnapping and other social vices.
The President of the Commission, Evangelist Franklin Obadiah who said this at the Ekpeye Solemn Assembly in Ahoada also predicted the liberation of Ekpeyeland from violence this year.
Evangelist Obadiah said that the activities of kidnappers and cultists had given Ekpeyeland a bad name, stressing that time has come for the people to repent and seek the face of God to enable Him heal the land.
The cleric who condemned the recent kidnapping of Bishop Clement Ekpeye, said that Ekpeyeland would continue to remain backward in terms of development if kidnappings and other forms of social vices were not checked.
According to him, the traditional institution and the elites must join hands to rid the kingdom of violence in order to attract development.
Obadiah also told newsmen that the Ekpeye Solemn Assembly was part of God’s design to cleanse the area from vices, stressing that with the successful organisation of the Ekpeye Solemn Assembly, the Kingdom is now liberated.
Meanwhile, the Eze Ekpeye Logbo, Robinson O. Robinson has called on communities in the area to forgive cultists from their communities that have decided to embrace peace.
Eze Robinson, who was represented at the occasion by the Eze Igbu Upata, HRM Eze Felix Otuwarikpo decried the rising level of kidnapping in the area.
The monarch also stressed the need for members of the clergy to always preach repentance to the people as the present emphasis on prosperity seems to have increased the greed for wealth and materialism.
