The Bishop Diocese of Niger Delta Anglican Communion, Rt Rev Ralph Ebirien has urged those holding dissenting views with the Amanyanabo of Abonnema, King Disrael Gbobo Bob-Manuel Owukori IX to sheathe their sword and work with him to develop the community.
The Bishop who said this at a thanksgiving service for the investiture of the king into the knighthood of Saint Christopher (KSC) and the elevation of his stool to a first class by the Rivers State Government also appealed to King Bob-Manuel to continue to do those things that are right in the sight of God.
He said that rather than please men, the monarch should do things to please God as it was God that enthroned him.
The cleric who likened the Abonnema Monarch to King Hezekiah of the Bible, also declared that nobody would succeed in destroying Abonnema.
Bishop Ebirien also appealed to youths in the community to shun violence, while also attaining their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) to enable them elect those that would provide jobs for them.
Meanwhile, the Amanyanabo of Abonnema, King Disrael Gbobo Bob-Manuel has declared his readiness to work with all interest groups to move the community forward.
King Bob-Manuel who spoke at the thanksgiving service which held in Abonnema, said that as a United Nations-POLAC Mayor of Peace, it was his responsibility to enthrone peace in his domain and the world at large.
“I hereby declare a truce and invite all the persons and chiefs who are agitating for anything to come to the roundtable for discussion”.
The monarch said that leaders in Abonnema must emulate the example set by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga and find a common ground to move the community forward.
“We must not allow personal aggrandizement cause chaos in our kingdom. As leaders, we should leave our communities better than we met it”, he said.
It would be recalled that the Abonnema monarch was recently conferred with the Mayor of Peace Award. Dr Olive, who conferred the award praised the monarch for meeting all criteria for the award.
