The Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, has described the Supreme Court ruling upholding his victory in the last governorship election in the state as well deserved.
Dickson, who was reacting to the judgement delivered by Supreme Court, remarked that the victory was a further confirmation of his overwhelming triumph at the polls.
The governor, who commended the judiciary for rising up to the occasion by standing firm and reaffirming the earlier decisions of the tribunal and the Appeal Court, which had earlier dismissed the petition of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva contesting his victory, has finally brought the election matter to logical conclusion .
He expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their unwavering support before, during and after the last governorship election in the state.
While thanking God for his victory at the apex court, he restated his commitment to developing the state to the best of his abilities, stressing that, despite the economic downturn, his administration will not renege on its agenda of restoration and consolidation.
“This is a total victory, and it is for the entire people of Bayelsa State, and a victory for our nation’s democracy,” he noted.
