frastructure, Ntufam Edim Inok Edim, has commended the efforts of the South-South Solidarity Forum (SSSF) towards supporting development, equity and good governance in the South-South region.
The Commissioner, who stated this when the South-South Solidarity Forum paid him an advocacy visit in his office, appreciated the group for the visit and pledged the ministry’s continued support towards achieving their aims and objectives.
Hon. Edim reassured the group of the state government’s commitment towards road infrastructure, adding that the state government has concluded plans to take over the maintenance of the Calabar–Itu Highway from the Federal Government, so as to generate revenue for the state.
Speaking, the President of the Forum, Dr. Bassey Umoh stated that the visit was aimed at intimating the ministry on its activities, pointing out the mandate of the South-South Solidarity forum was to bring together the people of the South-South to collaborate economically, politically and to have an identity for the people.
He opined that the people of the South-South region had in recent times suffered great injustice and marginalization at the national level, stressing that the group was moving round the states in the region to meet with people in positions of authority to deliver justice, equity, adequate representation and good governance.
Also speaking, the State Chairman, South-South Solidarity Forum, Engr. Bassey Okon, expressed his profound gratitude to the commissioner for the reception despite the short notice, adding that the forum was there to express their displeasure over deplorable condition of roads in the region, making references to the Calabar-Itu high way and the Bakassi- Cameroon road.
