The Rivers State Deputy
Governor –elect, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has assured Rivers workers of better prospects come May 29, when new administration takes effect in the state.
In her message to workers in the state at the just-concluded workers day celebration, Banigo said the in-coming administration holds Rivers workers in high esteem in actualising the vision of Nyesom Wike administration.
The deputy governor-elect promised workers in the state of better days ahead, saying that workers needs would be adequately catered for. According to her, no economy can function without the commitment of its workforce.
She explained that the road map to prosperity of the new Rivers Vision would ensure that ‘Workers Welfare’ are given adequate attention, pointing out that no responsible government can afford to play with the welfare of its workers.
“The new Rivers vision will bring about infrastructural development in terms of quality roads, schools, hospital and other basic amenities which a government should provide. We will also ensure that salaries of workers are paid as at when due so as to restore their confidence in the system”, she said.
Bango who lauded the commitment of Rivers workers also assured the organised labour of maximum cooperation of the new government with the introduction of new policies and programmes that would attract both local and foreign investors into the state.
She, however, blamed the problem between labour and the government on lack of synergy, between the two bodies, noting that the in-coming administration would ensure a proper and cordial relationship with the labour leaders in the state.
The Deputy Governor-elect called on workers in the state to remain dedicated in their duties.
